British R1, Warden Law
Quali: P8 (in group), P15 overall
Heat 1: P15 ⬇️ 🏁 P22
Heat 2: P15 ⬆️ 🏁 P8
Superheat: P11 ⬆️ 🏁 P6 (P16 after penalties)
Final: P23 ⬆️ 🏁 P9
A weekend of what could have been!
We showed great pace and topped the timing sheets in Practice 5 and 6 so were looking forward to getting stuck in at the sharp end in the racing. Then we put our race tyre on! An acknowledged fault with the tyres put us off the pace until they ‘cleaned up’ leaving us to struggle in quali which translated into a tough set of heats, classifying 21st after Heats 1 and 2.
We lined up for Superheat A in P10 and were still struggling for pace, 4/10ths adrift. A strong drive to hold position when the P3 man when defensive from lap 3 and ruined the race saw us finish P6 on the road, but an unfortunate penalty saw us tumble back down to P16, classifying us P23 for the A Final.
The final was where the tyre finally started working for us, as we set purple sectors and laps (ultimately being just 4/100ths off the fastest lap of the race) coming through the order, moving ourselves up 14 places to P10 at the flag, P9 after penalties ahead and 3.96 seconds off the winner.
Not the start we wanted to our British campaign leaving us outside the top 10 in the points table, but we reset and go again!
Big thanks as always to KR-Sport for the great job they do behind the scenes.
Next up we're off on a roadtrip for the RMC Euro Trophy at Wackersdorf.
